Bob and Gail, whom I attend church with, are in the Ukraine adopting a girl named Natasha. I am tracking their progress (www.bobngail.blogspot.com) and praying for them. If you go to their blog you can see a photo of Gail hugging Natasha and it looks close and deep and I can almost sense how tight it is. Maybe it's like the hug we get to experience with God when we see him face to face. And I can't imgine the wonder Natasha must feel knowing that someone came for her. Oops - yes I can. Jesus..............

Rick. Thank you so much for your prayers. You are very kind. We appriciate it very much. We were very happy to see Natasha again. We have read your comments & Bob decided to go to your Blog & he saw this posting. Hope to meet up with you when we get back. Thanks again.

I was glad to see this. I had heard that there were several kids from Ukraine visiting RiverTree last winter and that some were possibly being adopted. Was Natasha part of this group and are there in fact several others too? Very exciting. I was moved deeply by the slide show they ran in one of the services showing the children living on the streets in the Ukraine. I think about them often. I guess it was a wake up call for me, because the kids I saw in those pictures looked so much like my own - they could have been my own - for me it really drove home and helped me internalize the significance of poverty.
Yes - there is another couple at RiverTree that hope to adopt 2 girls from the Ukraine this year. I love your comment about how these kids look so much like your own and that they could be your own. Since they actually are God's own can you imagine how He must hurt for them? I have no idea how God can deal with that.
I got the same wake up call you speak of when I went to Peru last year. Tough to hold a baby that was abandoned in a park the day before and then put him down and walk away and come back home to relative luxury.
Wow! I can only imagine. I haven't been on a trip yet for a variety of reasons, but really look forward to doing it one day, but the experience you describe will be heartbreaking - yikes!
yes - heartbreaking. But it is awful and beautiful at the same time. So I challenge you to make "one day" be this July or October to Peru or Ecuador. Just make plans to Come and See.......
